I Think I Missed The Point

My SWTOR Imperial Agent Operative finished his class storyline last night.

Let's start with Hunter because, oooh baby!  Hunter had me going from the first.  I just never imagined that Hunter would be a female.  But it was a great surprise!  My guy got to kiss her and they had a brief h/c moment which wouldn't have happened otherwise.  I don't think.  I mean, they haven't put in the s/s relationships yet, so it really had me going there for a while.  Hunter and Zechs really had some serious chemistry even though they were trying to kill each other for the last two levels or so.  So that was pretty ok in my book.

I guess my confused-ness comes from a feeling of, is that all there is?  My guy wiped all trace of his existence with the Black Codex and then goes off to serve the Empire whenever they need him?  This is the part I'm having trouble with.  He is neutral all the way.  I mean, he has like 4750 light and 4600 dark points in total.  And the interesting this about this is, I didn't notice he was neutral until about level 30.  So he has done lots of really, really eeevil things in his career.  Actually most of the major plot points along the way were dark side with the lesser points going into light to keep things balanced once I noticed the trend.

There was no major battle at the end other than Hunter.  I felt that getting past the elite droids was harder than actually defeating Hunter.  And it's because I have uber skillz or anything.  I just sicced SCORPIO on Hunter and sat back and healed.  I watched this video and have to say, the vidder's conversation choices and mine were almost exactly the same.  And we both flew off into the black at the end.  I am still sort of left with the feeling that I have missed the point.

Maybe it's because I chose to stay neutral.  I mean, where did Darth Jadus go?  He just said, see yez, I'm off to Tahiti to check out the babes, you're on your on now.  Also, there was no show down with the Minister of Intelligent, or whatever the old, bald dude's title is.  We never got along anyway because my guy was always a sarcastic bastard whenever they talked.

It's possible this story line may be closer to the early Mara Jade before the Thrawn series happened.  I just finished reading Choices of One and I felt that she had that "I'm only accountable to the Emperor, you can't tell me what to do, but I do have a conscience so I'll sort of have a purpose" thing going on.

It's obvious that I'm going to have to make two more Imperial Agents.  One light side and the other dark, so I see and compare the differences.

And then there's SCORPIO.  OMG!  That's turning out to be an interesting little twist.

Yay, you're finally done!

I didn't see the Hunter thing coming either, which in retrospect was kind of silly, as I was like, "Wow...she really is one of the girliest villains ever". (Like, I knew that she flirted a lot with male agent, too, and kept being like, "Well, I guess they just wanted a flamboyantly gay villain. Although really, Hunter just comes off as really girly.") Oh well. I was fairly sad that as a female character, you mostly just get some weird stuff as they weren't going to let you actually kiss Hunter as a girl, no matter how flirty you'd been. *sigh* Oh well. Will just sulk on my own over in this corner and console myself with the Aristocra Saganu kiss...and level my male agent.

I found the end kind of weird, too. Like, it almost felt more like a prologue to me than an ending. (As it feels like it's a great set up for more.) I was 100% LS, and I'm not entirely sure what happened other than that I erased myself and am off probably slowly going even more crazy. I kept feeling like I was supposed to be doing something for the Star Cabal, but for the life of me, I don't know what they wanted me to do so...yargh. Unsure. I'm really hoping for an expansion that sorts things out a bit. (And maybe gives more insight on everything. Like, the Star Cabal obviously had some kind of grand plan for my character, but I have no freaking clue what it was.)

I don't know what's up with Jaedus, either. *sigh* And, yeah, Hunter was a pretty easy kill (I think your average silver was about equally hard). Which was fine as I'm not sure that Hunter was supposed to be this super elite warrior but still...it felt so easy that it was kind of anti-climactic.

I got a last conversation with Minister, as I sided with him, which was pretty cool, actually. He's a very interesting character. But no real show down, for better or worse.

I do think that Mara Jade is probably the closest Star Wars approximation for agent. (Which is kind of funny as everyone on the boards seems convinced that it's James Bond. What? NO! Have they not read the books?)

[identity profile] redhedlvr.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Going backwards here.

Yes! I chose to kill off Jaedus' daughter and he called me his "hand" from that point on. And there were several other NPCs that referred to my character as the Hand of Jaedus. So yeah, not so much James Bond. Mara states quite clearly in several of Zhan's books that she had the authority to do pretty much as she wanted, and the Emperor would back her. And that's how I took the Agent class to be, once I killed off the daughter, of course. I'm interested to see what changes will be available when I have to kill Jaedus. Hmmm...

My last conversation with Minister was pretty much like the first. My guy was a snarky sob, lol. They really don't like each other much but NEED each other in order to get the job done. IDK After watching that video, Minister came across as more of a father type to the vidder's character. I guess that possibility is there, who knows. I really thought that Minister was going to turn out to be the mastermind behind the whole Star Cabal thing, but I guess that wouldn't have worked well.

I do agree with you about the whole story line seeming like a prequel. When I think about it, it would make sense. How could they build on the story line if they end it right out of the gate? lol

And Hunter as flamboyantly gay! Indeed. My guy bought into it hook line and sinker, too! Woo hoo. They did a good job when they thought Hunter up as a villain.

I'm ready for an expansion now, lol.

Oh yeah, have you gotten your affection up with SCORPIO? Mine is like 8000-something and very interesting things are begining to happen. Get your male agent up, it will be worth it. Mwahahahaha

[identity profile] mutive.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
I blackmailed Jaedus into going away. (Not sure why. I hated him after he force lightninged me to death. But, hey, it made Vector happy and it struck me that trying to kill a Dark Lord of the Sith was perhaps suicidal on my part.) But he never came back. He just...wandered off. I keep wondering where. (Probably killed himself. Everyone seemed to kill themselves in my story.)

My character was really snarky, but seemed to get along with the Minster. He'd whine about her being too good (and her sense of humor) and tell her that she was going to get her ass handed to her, but I think basically approved of her behavior. There was kind of a *moment* at the end where he was like, "I've been trying to get the Empire to work for decades. It won't. Get out while you have a chance and do what you can to make things better." Which was pretty moving to me, after everything. He definitely came across as fatherly in my play through. Sort of an odd cross between Grand Moff Tarkin and Tim Gunn.

I did wonder how much he knew about the Star Cabal. I found it interesting that he and Keeper decided to have the Cabal killed, but then to hide the evidence of their existence. (Which is interesting as I highly suspect that the only way to stop the war would be to reveal their involvement.) IDK. It's a loose end that I'd like to see played with, esp. as I got the feeling that he's still on my side. (Although I somehow suspect that Keeper is going to rejoin the evil Sith. Although maybe not.)

I am hoping that the story is just a prequel. I want it to continue, rather than to go off in some totally different vein where I'm like, "Well, just checked that off my list. Time to find a super secret weapon and destroy it!"

Hunter was pretty fey/flamboyant. It just was odd in that while playing it, I was still like, "Something is really off." Like, he felt less flamboyant and more just...feminine. And there was something odd in that you were flirting *so* much, yet never did anything. (And Hunter apparently only wants you when mind controlled, which was so icky, but sort of makes sense with the whole "Um...I'm not quite what I seem..." thing.)

I agree, though. Hunter is probably one of the best villains ever. Cold, amoral, ruthless, charming, always a few steps ahead of you, absolutely terrifying and yet sort of sympathetic at the same time. I'm really, really hoping she faked her death and is secretly laughing at my dumb ass agent.

I so want an expansion, too!

OMG, what happens with your SCORPIO at 8000-something? I've gotten her up there, but all she did was agreed to come back and work with me, then told me that she wanted to monitor my kids if I ever had any. Weird. *sigh* I really need a male agent. I feel like I've missed so much between the Watcher 2 flirting, the Hunter kiss, and now whatever my crazy kill bot is up to. :( Blah. Wish I'd known that being a female agent sucks.

[identity profile] redhedlvr.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 04:11 pm (UTC)(link)
See now, I'm looking forward to playing a female agent. I really need to decide if she'll be light or go dark but I'm leaning towards light. As I said, my guy did alot of really bad things in his short mmo life and judging by that vid and what you've told me, there doesn't seem to be much of a difference in the ending.

I'm still doing Corellia quests. Actually I think I'm at the end there. And SCORPIO is loving every choice I make. He's getting 200 affection a pop most of the time. Then after the confrontation with Hunter was over I went around and talked with the companions who needed a chat. I was curious where her line would go, so I took all the "I agree with you" choices. She briefly morphs/projects a very cute humanoid form and looses the droid voice for a bit. My guy was all over that, kinky bugger! I'm dieing to know where that will take us.

I'll bet they're saving Darth Jaedus for upcoming content of some sort. He just wandered away on me too. He's like, "hey it's been real. Best of luck to ya buddy!" and poof! Gone.

A guildmate says there's a flashpoint we have to do to really end the storyline. I'm not sure if he means the storyline or the end of the Corellia quest line. Who knows. We're gonna do it this weekend so that should be interesting.

Female agent is fun. Just...you get fewer flirts. :( I'd probably go light on f!agent if you've already done dark. I mean, why not see the other side/options?

There are actually 3 endings to agent and you apparently got neutral (which was light-neutral. There were initially 5, but they removed neutral and dark-neutral, leaving light-neutral, light, and dark. Which is probably part of why it seemed so strange.) So you could still theoretically get a very different ending for your agent. I think most of the ones on Youtube are neutral, which sucks.

HAh hah hah. I don't think that you get to do anything other than flirt a bit with SCORPIO...so far. Then again, the game may someday let you go after that, which is...yeah, rather kinky. (Although worse than flirting with Hunter? IDK. That was so weird. Like, I had her explain how she'd dreamed about us tearing each other to pieces like a second before she broke down and threw a tantrum about how we were perfect together and ought to be partners. Oh, Hunter, you're so crazy. How did the ending with her play out as a guy? I'm so curious and can't find it on Youtube.)

I keep thinking that Jaedus has to return. I've heard that even if you try to kill him, he just vanishes, so it seems kind of weird that he's stayed gone all this while. He and the Star Cabal really feel like loose ends. (And I could see them being played off each other.)

I'm not sure what the friend means as far as the flash point goes. There are quite a few of them, but they're for gear - nothing agent specific happens in any of them. But enjoy it! I'm sure it'll be fun. (Although the new one is supposedly super tough.)

[identity profile] redhedlvr.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I'm not sure what guildie was talking about. Sometimes I think they just like to hear themselves over Vent, so you know how that goes.

I'm excited about three different endings! I'm not sure I really understoon that before. Of course it's gonna take forever to get there because I have other toons I want to work on such as my female sith warrior. I had a male warrior, but when I got to Balmorra I noticed an interesting male npc that I think warriors get for companions. So of course, I had to restart as a female. Not too obsessive, lol.

I've also been thinking I might have to branch out to another server. I feel compelled to keep all one legacy separate from another. You know, maybe one server for light side toons and the other for dark. I started that way except Empire/Republic but now realize they should be by alignment not faction. One could really go nuts with this, hee he.

The ending with Hunter as a male was pretty much like that vid. The only difference is they kiss once (twice maybe?). Everything else was the same. The vidder chose almost the exact same conversation responses that I did so there really wasn't much difference.

[identity profile] mutive.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 06:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, it seems highly possible that guildie was just talking to talk. *sigh*

The different endings are pretty cool. I wish that they had kept all original 5 (as I don't think neutral works unless you're neutral-good). But, whatever. They are fairly different, although I have no idea how they're going to incorporate all three into the next expansion as they diverge quite a bit...

It's going to take forever for me, too! I currently am trying to level so many toons. I want one of everything, plus at least two agents. (And maybe smugglers...) And I only have a 27 trooper, 25 JC, 20 agent, 18 warrior, 15 BH and 8 JK. *sigh* I mean...I'm never going to finish. But that's okay. Little by little, I guess?

(And I do the restart thing a lot, too. Although I kind of want a SW as darkside Jaesa is so freaking awesome. I want her creepy romance so much. But then, Quinn is cool, too. Yargh, decisions! Luckily, I think I'll be content with one JC, JK, trooper, and BH, so that's something, right?)

I'm working the two server thing as well. I think I divided my characters kind of funny (I agree that DS/LS makes more sense) but...eh. You know. Whatever. I didn't really think my decisions through very well.

Huh, odd. I'm surprised that it was that similar for Hunter with a male character. (I guess I'm just curious as to how the whole "why yes, I totally understand and get your particular brand of crazy and totally ship the glorious adventures of C9 and Hunter as well" leads to kissing. Then again, this is agent and Hunter, so I'm not sure why I'd be surprised that anything they do leads to a kiss or two. Or random hate sex in any semi-private location for all that.)

[identity profile] redhedlvr.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, kissing was one of the conversation choices. And I don't remember when, sorry to say. My guy is a dog anyway and never passes up the chance with any of the ladies. Hunter and C9 are soulmates though. She could settle him down and make him want to knock off his deathwish, don't want to live forever, ways. And his strange new obsession with SCORPIO. Now there's a dangerous liaison if there ever was one.

I was reading the BW forums. I know, what the hell am I doing that for! And apparently there's lots of operatives out there that feel cheated they took away our chuckle. I'm gonna put in a ticket like someone suggested. "Oh silly me! I just noticed there might be a bug with my operative. He is not chuckling anymore. Please help!" I think they'll bring it back eventually. Especially if enough folks complain. It really was such a cool effect.

As for other toons. I have an abandoned dark jedi warrior lvl 38 and a smuggler 39 on Crevasse City. That's one of those servers that they seriously need to merge with another. I also have a trooper (combat medic lvl 29-ish) there as well. The guild I came over from WoW with just stopped playing. Actually my daughter told me yesterday that I guilt tripped her into playing by buying her and her boyfriend the game for Christmas. There's something wrong with that thought process!

So I don't know what to do either. I'm like you, one of everything and two of certain ones. And work seems to be getting in the way as well. Lol!

[identity profile] mutive.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 07:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh boo. Oh well. Sooner or later male agent will get to max level and I can record it all for posterity. (Or whatever.) And then I will know exactly how it works out between him and the foe that I am something like 100% certain he will fall madly in love with.

My male (and female) agent is pretty much the same. If he can flirt with her, he does his best. (Which tends to be a disaster.) The only exception so far is Kaliyo, as I want a chance with Watcher 2. (So he may or may not end up eventually with Kaliyo. Not sure if she'll like me ignoring her for so long.) It kind of comes off as him being scared of Kaliyo and just desperate for everyone else to like him, which is hilarious, but makes for a rather entertaining character.

Hunter and C9 totally are soul mates. I'm sure my female agent is still in mourning (although, honestly, having Hunter around probably only riled her up and made her more crazy). Oh well. I still highly suspect she dragged the body back on board the ship and keeps pestering Lokin to fix her enemy, because she is insane. (Although not as crazy as your agent's weird relationship with SCORPIO. That is totally going to get your agent killed. Just saying.)

You should totally put in a ticket for the chuckle. I can't believe they took that from operatives. WTF? That was so freaking awesome and I want a chuckle, too. :( Why do they hate ops? Why?

Ah, you're doing so much better at leveling than I am. But, yeah, there are a lot of servers that need merging. (Although I find the daughter thing hilarious. Oh well...whatever it takes, right? I did convince my mom to play, although need to start leveling with her again.)

There are moments when I'm like, "I wish I didn't have to work..." but then I'm like, "no, no, bad idea! Need to cut back on the games, not play more!" But...I want more toons. :(

[identity profile] mutive.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmmm...now that I am at home, watched the video. Only a slight difference from mine. Rather than giggle about how I like torture (sadly, for my character, I'm thinking she's right), Hunter instead went into how she still looks at me "with his eyes". I'm honestly not sure which is creepier. Hmmm. Such an odd ending.

[identity profile] redhedlvr.livejournal.com 2012-04-17 11:30 pm (UTC)(link)
And you went light side, right? I was neutral with about 150 light side points. I'm wondering what would happen if you start off by killing Jaedus instead of his daughter. Who knows.

[identity profile] mutive.livejournal.com 2012-04-18 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I was pretty much pure lightside, but still didn't get the lightside ending. (Both lightside and darkside seem kind of hard to get without knowing what exact choices you need to make to bring them on, so I suspect going forward, the "neutralish" ending will be canon.) I don't think that the ending really cares at all what you do with Jaedus. (Although maybe it does a bit in the darkside ending.) Which is weird. (Blah, I really wish they'd kept all five - it makes so much more sense.)

[identity profile] redhedlvr.livejournal.com 2012-04-18 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't ever realize there were three endings. It's going to be a tough decision what direction to take my new female agent. Lol! So many agents, so little time.

[identity profile] mutive.livejournal.com 2012-04-18 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
I know! You're going to have to decide whether she's good or evil, and which brand of good or evil. (Ironically, you can be really evil and get the good ending and vice versa. I am so tempted to try...)
