I like to re-read good stories.  I save favorite books and will read them again and again.  I also do the same with fanfics.  However, I print them out on paper so I can take them along anywhere or read in bed.  The problem is I am finding myself swamped with files folders stuffed and piled high with paper.  I feel fairly confident that many of you read certain stories over and over as well.

My question is, if you are saving favorite stories, what type of media are you using?  Paper, laptops, discs, whatever.  I don't even begin to know what to list and am interested in hearing your solutions to the problem.

I saw a newish device called an ebook reader that lets you read books on a handheld screen. Shades of Star Trek, right? Anyway, Sony has one, I think its a PRS-500 that will read Adobe PDF files and Word docs. The only problem is the price. $350. yikes!! But you can also get books downloaded and there's external memory capabilities. I so need a life outside internet fandom.

3-Ring Binders!!

I have a few 3-ring binders devoted to various fandoms, filled with printed stories that I thought were especially good. Kind of like custom made 'zines. I like having a certain amount of slash available in a non-electronic format.

Second - after upgrading computers a couple of times and making hash out of my saved files (and probably losing a fair amount) I started to think about how to better archive files that I really wanted to keep. I found some really neat little black CD holder books that came in a set of six with a nice case to keep them in - so I named each one for a fandom or two, and then inside is a CD for fanfiction (all nicely formated and cleaned up), a CD for fanart, one for songvids...stuff like that.

Now I save to my comp, sort it and then add it to the appropriate discs from time to time.

Hoo..wordy. But I love this stuff!

Oh yeah. I have the 3 ring binders too. One of my favorite Gundam Wing stories is Broken Warriors by Pyrzm. It's like 110 chapters at this point and still ongoing, as far as I know. There are other long stories that I want to keep as well. A Tour of Duty story and I'm not 100% on the name cause I have no memory, In the Minds Eye. And others that I know I want to re-read.

So, I am seriously considering buying an e-book reader type thingy. Yes, they're expensive, but when I consider how many books I read plus all the fanfic I have laying all over the house, I can justify the expense...In my own mind...Which may not be the most logical but think of all the space I'll save.

Oh man...
