Hot Cross Buns

I had my first class in beginning harmonica last night.  There were eight of us, split four men/women.  All varying ages.  I was rather surprised by the turn out thought there might not be enough and they'd have to cancel the class.  But, that's just me and my negative self.

Wow.  What a complicated instrument.  Its more that sitting down and picking out a few notes on the piano or strumming random strings on a guitar.  There's this whole tongue blocking thing and bending reeds and just plain trying to get ONE note and not a whole chord to come out.  

So, I'm actually quite pleased as I feel this is going to be a challenge.

And by the way, my class plays a smokin' Hot Cross Buns!

And yes. There's lessons for everything. Apparently this guy charges $20 an hour for private lessons. We, as a group, are paying $95 for 8 lessons, but of course you don't get the personalized attention. I know I won't get far with it. I love music, and can reproduce it on varying instruments, but I'm just not naturally gifted. Those people FEEL the music and its not just a matter of technique. You know, no matter what they do, its right and sounds so natural.

Regardless. I had fun last night, and expect to in future classes as well. Mission accomplished.
