How pathetic is it when the high point of my day is having the yarn delivered to make these designed by the Yarn Harlot? Then again, they are terribly cute and both my daughter-in-law and daughter *gasp!* asked me to make them a pair. Black for daughter-type of course. Also let me say I couldn't have been more impressed with the shipping time for this yarn. I ordered on Monday, Sept 3, which was a US holiday might I add, and the box was on my door step Thursday, Sept 6. I ordered from Royal Yarn. The price was so-so.

The car-cover, flag afghan only has 10 more rows and then I get to start crocheting all those stars. I have a feeling due to the hugeness involved, that I could probably fit all 50 on there instead of 32 called for in the pattern. This thing is a monster. But warm, so very, very warm.

The audit is well and truly over.  No blood was shed and no tears wept.  That has to be a first in recent history.  And as usual after the event, I wonder why I let it get to me every stinking year.  Mine is not to reason why, yadda yadda.

I watched Firefly and Serenity again over the long weekend.  What a great show.  So now I'm reading all the fic out there that sort of fills in the gaps and/or continues the story.  If anybody has any good recs, please let me know.

Yarn is a perfectly acceptable thing to get excited about, especailly when you have wonderful project in mind for the use thereof.

I'm so bad. I have the afghan going and a lace scarf for my step mother which I hope to have finished for Christmas. I don't need another project, but I had printed out the pattern and my daughter-in-law saw it. She said, "Birthday is coming, hint hint." Or at least that's my story and I'm sticking to it. I keep resisting ordering the yarn for that Kauni sweater that's going around the knitting blogs. The main sticking point, other than having to order from Denmark, and the fact that I've never done a steek or much stranded color knitting, is the yarn is wool. I'm not fond of wool, but as a cardigan, I figure I'd wear it over something else so the wooliness might not bother me as much. But I feel I will be caving soon.

Did you see Firefly? I know you were watching Buffy there for a while and figured you'd have seen it. Yeah, yeah, ancient history and I need to just get over it already.

Have a peachy weekend.

Oh yeah. I'd be a gonner if Amazon sold yarn too. I give them way too much of my money as it is.

I love the sock pattern - how did I miss seeing that on Knitty?

And It's definitely not pathetic to get excited about getting yarn in the mail. Have you discovered elann.com? God, I am powerless to resist their wonderful yarn deals. I have a huge stash yet always keep wanting to make patterns that I can't use anything in the stash for, so of course I buy more. :)

I'll check elann.com out. Like a need another site to pour my money down.

I started the tulip socks. I haven't done color knitting like that and let me tell you it shows. It took 3 hours to knit the heel flap. Oh brother. But, practice makes perfect as I have 3 more socks to knit. The sock itself fits fairly well. I usually make them too tight, so that's an improvement.
