Has anyone on my flist ever used these knitting needles?  I've been eyeing them for a while now, but have reservations about the cable join.  Any thoughts or advice would be welcome.

I think I bought a set of the Harmony needles three years ago? The interchangeable ones, and before I knew about the mess with Grafton Fibers. That said, I love them. If you use the little key to make sure they are on tight, they're fine. The wood have a pointer tip than the metal, the join is smoother than on the Inox needles that I use all the damn time, and I found that I was able to knit smoothly and easily and never really worried too much about the join.

Their interchangeable sets are probably the best deal around. I also bought two extra cords in every size they offered and have never, ever regretted it. I think I also bought extra tips in 5-8, because I used them A LOT and sometimes had projects going simultaneously that used the same needle size. I like that they come with "end caps" so if you DO need the tips for something else, the caps screw on and voila! The cord becomes a stitch holder.

I am not so good with metal needles that aren't teflon coated (which is why I mostly use Inox for smaller needle projects, like socks), but if you can't afford the Addi Clicks (I'm waiting for a couple of versions from now when everyone else in the world has beta tested them), they're a GREAT set of needles. Probably my favorite after the Inox.

FYI I've used the Boye set (OK, felt a bit too light), tried the Addi Natura set, occasionally use Addi Lace (not sure how some of those ended up in my knitting tools), feel OK about the Hiya Hiya, and am still on the fence about the Kollage squares. I think I've used just about every needle type out there (Susan Boye, I'm lookin' at you) and really think my fave are the Inox followed by the Harmony. :)

Worst case, get a single in the size you need and take 'em for a test drive. If you like the metal needles, I hear raves about theirs too.

Thanks so much! This is just what I need to hear. I've been on the fence about getting these for a while now. Good tip too about the size 5 - 8 range. When I do sweaters, I like to do both sleeves at the same time, going back and forth after 10 rows or so. Having the extra tips and cables makes sense.

Thanks again!

Oh hey and that's a good tip too as I ponder some sweaters! The last one I tried to make had one sleeve about 4" longer than the other. IDEK! Maybe if I try it this way I'll have a prayer that they'll turn out the same length this next time.

Whatchoo workin' on now?

I generic afghan I pull out when all else fails. Nothing exciting. I'm waiting for those Netflix shawl kits http://www.knitpicks.com/kits/Seasons_Shawl_Kit-FallWinter__D40177.html to come in. Woo hoo!

I adore these needles. I have the harmony wood interchangables and recently invested in a set of double pointed ones from them. I wouldn't use anything else. Absolutely the best needles IMHO.

Do they get burrs in them? I only have 2 pairs of bamboo needles and they both developed burrs. I was thinking of getting the metal ones even though the wood are so pretty. Probably warmer to knit with in the winter too. My hands get so cold. Decisions, decisions.

No, never any burrs. Never any problems at all. I love all the interchangable cables as well.
