Does anyone else get a song stuck in their head and it just won't go away?  For like a week?  Why does that happen?  Is it OCD or stress/depression who the heck knows.

Anyway, I've had Melanie's Lay Down stuck in there for the longest time.  Don't know why, it just popped in and took residence.  I mean, I was waking up to the song playing in an infinite loop that ran all day.  It could be worse of course, it could be It's A Small World running over and over.  But I like the song, just not over and over.

This isn't the first time a song has stuck with me for an eternity.  The last one was Billy Thorpe's Children Of The Sun.  Also a good song which I also played over and over in an attempt to banish it and make room for new music.

So yesterday, I decided to fight fire with fire and made a playlist of all the songs that get stuck in my head and don't leave for a while.  There's about 30 and I just let it run at work yesterday and guess what?  This morning I woke up to Hank Williams, Jr Stoned At The Jukebox.  So yay!  Melanie is gone.  Will keep up with the Stuck In My Head playlist and see what pops out tomorrow.

Songs are sneaky that way. What I find interesting is the song itself that gets stuck. My new theory is if the song has enough lyrics that is repetitious it stands a better chance of getting stuck. Ballads not so much but short snappy tunes usually.

They are! I think you're probably right. There are also sounds that just really worm their way in. I'm not sure how that happens, but it does.
