Ok, after 2 weeks of no kitchen faucet, I got the plumber in there to put a new one in. I scurried myself off to Home Depot (which is right up there with visiting the dentist in my book) and bought a replacement for the original which is 18 friggin' years old. Spent $50 and thought I was so smart by saving money this way.

Then the guy shows up to install it. I'm thinking, maybe another $100 or so and since he's a pro, it shouldn't take all that long. OMG! The going rate for a customer supplied faucet was $230. Highway robbery! I about died when he said that. And what are you supposed to do anyway? The chickie on the phone wouldn't give out estimates so they snooker you right off the bat.

Well, the plumber was a nice sort, after he picked my jaw up off the floor and made sure I wasn't gonna faint on him. Gave me a "deal" since it was the holidays and all.

Bottom line here, forget computers, accounting, engineering. Go to pluming school and rake in the dough.

But, joy of joys, I have a working sink again so I shouldn't complain too much.

My brother is an electrician who left school at 16 to start an apprenticeship and he earns way more than I do with my multiple university degrees. Still, at least my job doesn't involve crawling through spider-infested roofs.
