So, I entered another CAL on Ravelry's Gogreous Gradients.  Our task was to create a peacock themed yarn item using gradient colorway.  I tried my hand at dyeing my own with food coloring and some KnitPicks bare yarn.  Results weren't so bad and I'm happy with the final product.

Thanks! I've been playing with dyeing my own yarn for about a year now. I use food coloring or koolaid.

If you're on Ravelry there a few really great groups such as What A Kool Way To Dye http://www.ravelry.com/groups/what-a-kool-way-to-dye They are very supportive and have many, many links.

This shawl was made for Gorgeous Gradients. Our task was to create something with a peacock theme. I looked at lots of peacock pics online and found a black peacock that looked pretty cool. I'm not an expert dyer, so there's lots of room for improvement. Those groups are really great and I highly recommend them to everyone who'll stand still to listen, lol.
